AHRQ to host free webinar on workplace violence
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) will host a free ‘Reducing Workplace Violence with TeamSTEPPS®’ webinar that will address “how teams can manage and care for aggressive and disruptive patients while maintaining quality and safety” from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 14.
The webinar will feature Mei Kong, R.N., M.S.N., assistant vice president and chief operating officer at New York City Health and Hospitals Coney Island, and Joseph Sweeney, director of hospital police and workplace violence prevention coordinator at New York City Health and Hospitals Bellevue.
AHRQ says that, “Clinical teams [that participate in the webinar will] learn how to reduce risk of injury, meet regulatory standards, and become proactive members of the team by identifying behavioral triggers and underlying emotional or psychological issues that may cause a person in crisis to escalate to violent behavior. Clinical teams can apply this new knowledge, skills, and attitudes and use TeamSTEPPS tools to address difficult situations.”
