Health Policy / Research

This office is responsible for developing (and assisting other members of the Advocacy Team in the development of) policy positions on all areas affecting the practice of medicine and to communicate these policy positions to MAG members and the public at large. The division's responsibilities include:

  • Develop, update and produce MAG's Policy Compendium
  • Assists members of the Medical Practice Committee, which was established to provide input in all areas of the practice of medicine and monitor any state or federal agency that may have direct involvement in those areas, including but not limiting to, Public Health and Emergency Medical Services.
  • Assist other members of the Advocacy Team with research of health care issues, production of reports, and otherwise support the Advocacy Team in their duties as it relates to development and communication of MAG policy
  • Identify MAG House, Board and Executive Committee actions, which require regulatory or community planning and coordination
  • Assist hospital and other organized medical staffs by offering consultation and information on medical staff organization and function
  • Develop and/or coordinate with other physician organizations, hospitals, medical schools, etc., to carry out MAG House actions and other policies of mutual interest in the health care field. (e.g. GHA Partnership for Health and Accountability patient safety initiatives; American Heart Association Stroke Clearinghouse, etc.)
