Welcome to the Medical Association of Georgia's Office of General Counsel
MAG's Office of General Counsel provides legal advice to the Association and coordinates the activities of the Association that require legal expertise. Many of these activities include private sector advocacy on behalf of the physicians of Georgia and their patients. In this capacity, MAG's Office of General Counsel actively works to advocate physician and patient positions before state and federal courts throughout Georgia and the United States; before state and federal regulatory bodies; and in the private sector with health insurance plans, hospitals and other entities that significantly affect patient care.
MAG's MODEL MEDICAL STAFF BYLAWS ARE HERE!
A new benefit of MAG membership, the first edition of the MAG Model Medical Staff Bylaws is now available. Several years in development – at the cost of thousands of dollars – this comprehensive template offers the most up-to-date language protecting physician autonomy in hospitals. The template is in accordance with existing state and federal law.
The MAG Model Medical Staff Bylaws are available to interested members in several ways.
- A password-protected copy is located here and is free as a member benefit.
- A printed and spiral-bound edition can be purchased at a cost of $50 per copy to members. To request a hard copy, please call 678.303.9281 or e-mail contact information to Mary Dyche. Members, please include your MAG ID number.
- Each component medical society and individual who donated or will make a donation toward its development will receive hard copies at no charge.

MAG's Business Associate Agreement
Before a member sends any private health information, MAG requires two original, signed copies of the Business Associate Agreement be mailed into the Office of the General Counsel at 1849 The Exchange, Suite 200, Atlanta, GA 30339.
